base running and ..... IT'S ONE, TWO, THREE STRIKES YOU'RE OUT
AT THE OLD BALL GAME...................................HOO RAH - GO PHILLIES

2004 - Majors Division CHAMPIONS

6/29/04: In a game that went extra innings, the Phillies won against a very
determined Giants team. The Giants led the entire game and were one out away
from victory but the Phillies never quit, tying the game in the bottom of the
7th inning on a well hit ball by Pidge who got a triple to bring in the tying run.
In the top of the 8th the Phillies held the Giants 3-up-3 down with sharp defensive
play. In the bottom, the Giants got out the first Phillies batter, but then Bob
hit a deep fly ball to right center field, scoring a home run on a play at the plate
to win the game. Tiffany and Muff also batted strong, each of them hitting well
and earning hitting home runs. Great game and great season girls!!!!
Congratulations!!!

6/24/04: The Blue Jays opened first inning with 5 singles earning 2 runs then
holding the Phillies defensively to 1 run on 4 batters. The Phillies defense
picked up in the 2nd with 3-up-3-down by pitcher Joserz and first base Monkey.
Blue Jays fought back capitalizing on throwing errors by the Phillies but then Phillies
came alive with good hits and base running. Bob had 2 triples and a double. Joserz
had 2 doubles and Very Ape a triple. Adrianna, Duckie, Monkey, and Pidge were
3-for-3. Jackhammer hit well getting a single and 2 doubles. Muff beat out a
throw to first with determined base running. Tiffany and Wickert each reached
base twice. In the 4th inning Very Ape made a great effort just missing a well hit
ball in deep left field by Blue Jays #11 who earned a double on the play. Rana's
smile was a sight to see as she reached 1st base on a ground ball hit to third
also earning an RBI and then her even bigger smile as she came in for the winning
run on a a ground ball hit to left field by Wickert. Great effort girls.

6/19/04: In a game marked by good defensive play by both teams the Yankees
came out on top in extra innings scoring the the final run on a ground ball hit
to center field in the bottom of the 9th with the runner on 2nd base coming home.
The Yankees almonst had another run but the runner was tagged out on a close play
and collission at home plate. Phillies players Bob and Wickert scored one run each
and Very Ape scored twice with the second being a play at the plate where the
catcher made a tag but the ball came out of the glove on a slide by Very Ape.

6/16/04: In a rain filled week, the Phillies and Blue Jays were able to get
their game in and the Phillies took the lead in the first and never had to look
back. In the 4th inning the Blue Jays fought back taking advantage of Phillies
errors, loading up the bases and earning 4 runs. Bob and Very Ape reached base
4 times and scored 4 runs each with Very Ape getting 2 triples on well hit balls.
She was followed by Joserz who hit her 4th Home Run of the season. Monkey and
Duckie also got on base every time they batted. The Blue Jays defense made many
put outs on well thrown balls to first base. Besides the 4th inning, the Phillies
defense held them to no runs with krisp play, managing to get lead runners put out
at third to prevent scoring opportunities.

6/9/04: The Phillies roll to 9 and 0.
Another great defensive effort with the Phillies holding the Devils Rays
to 2 runners, both in the 2nd inning and "3 up-3 down" in the rest of the game. Besides defense, Phillies batters clubbed the ball for 24 hits;
19 singles, 2 doubles, 2 triples and 1 home run by Joserz who led the team
with 8 RBI's. Bob, Very Ape, Joserz, Monkey, and Tiffany reached base each
time at bat. Keep up the good work girls.

6/8/04: The Phillies continue rolling earning their 8th victory in a row
beating the Yankees with solid defense and good offense. Very Ape was sharp
teaming up with Duckie, Wickert and Bob keeping the Yankees from stretching
for extra bases. Jackhammer continues to be an all around utility player and
Muff also displayed a good glove at 3rd. Joserz kept the Yankees guessing earning
6 strikeouts in a well pitched game. The most exciting play though was a catch
by Yankees third baseman Shante in the 1st inning who made an exceptional diving
catch on a foul ball hit by Wickert, but the ump ruled it had hit the ground.
Exceptional effort and also a great arm. HOO RAH....GO PHILLIES!!!

6/5/04: Playing their first game in 12 days, the Phillies continued their
winning streak with an error free game defensively against the Giants.
Good defense was needed since the Giants batters had no strikeouts, but
the Phillies were tough holding them to 3 batters each of the first two
innings and no more than 5 each inning after. Offensively Wickert kept
left field busy with 4 hits on the left side, one a double. Bob was also
4 for 4 capitalizing on a dropped ball resulting in the games solo home run.
Joserz and Jackhammer led the team in RBIs, earning 4 each. In the last
inning Adrianna got the first batter out on a 4-3 play and Muff at 3rd finished
the inning with back-to-back 5-10 plays with Wickert at short center. Great job
girls

5/24/04: In their first game in 9 days, the Phillies picked up where
they left off with a solid victory against the Reds with Joserz, Muff and
Duckie each getting on base every time they batted. Muff had 2 triples
and a single with all balls well hit to right field. With the game well in
hand Bob started the 4th inning with a solo home run to right field. Very Ape
also contributed with solid hits to left field in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd innings.
On defense the Phillies shined allowing only 7 batters in the first 2 innings.
The Reds threatened in the 3rd but a smart double play by Muff and Duckie
followed by a stikeout by Jackhammer ended the inning with no runs scored.
Wickert made her pitching debut in the 4th giving up one hit, 2 strikeouts,
and 3 walks, ending a cold and windy game with a strikeout.

5/15/04: The Phillies could not be stopped today overcoming the Blue Jays
in their longest game yet this season. Joserz earned her first shutout
with good pitching from the mound, throwing 5 strikeouts. The Philles got
in trouble in the 5th inning with the Blue Jays loading up the bases with
no one out, but then Wickert and Duckie teamed up for a double play at 2nd
that Joserz followed up on with a throw out at first, holding the Blue Jays to no runs. Jackhammer led the team on offense earning 5 RBI's, followed by
Wickert with 2, then Bob, Very Ape, Monkey, Duckie, Pidge, Squirt and Rana
with 1 each. Very Ape also led scoring in the game getting 3 runs in 4 times
at bat. Another ALL TEAM EFFORT!!!!

5/12/04: Tiff and Very Ape continued to support the Phillies success in a
game marked by rain with both girls hitting grand slam home runs. The Phillies
defense held the Pirates to one run after a good hit to center field led them
off with a double. The infield buckled down getting the next batters out at 1st.
Squirt also made contact getting to first on an infield hit. The Phillies
galloped around the bases scoring 26 runs in a game which only had a couple
brief respites from the rain. But the girls kept their focus and kept their
streak alive.

5/11/04: The Phillies continued their streak with Wickert hitting a home run,
a triple, and a single. Tiff also hit back-to-back home runs with the last one
ending the game. Joserz pitched a great game with 8 strikeouts. Adrianna
also batted strong with a nice hit to left field resulting in a double.
Defensively the gloves and throws were right there, with Very Ape making a
rocket throw to 2nd on a relay from left field. Great job girls!!!!

5/8/04: The Phillies continued to roll with Wickert, Bob, Joserz and Duckie
getting on base 4 times each. Wickert & Bob each scored 4 runs and Joserz
hitting a deep ball that resulted in a grand slam when a thrown ball rolled out
of play and she also made 7 RBI's. Jackhammer relieved Joserz on the mound
closing the game out with good pitching in spite of a windy day.
Another GREAT team effort.

5/7/04: The Philles started the season against the Reds with heavy bats and
hot fielding with Very Ape, Monkey & Jackhammer each scoring 4 runs.
Bob had a grand slam home run taken away due to a base running error
called on another runner. The pitching was right on the mark and the defense
was superb. This was a great all around team effort with every girl doing their
part.
